LEADVILLE TRAIL 100 TRAINING RUN CAMP

JUNE 26, 27, & 28, 2010

We like to think of it as a great weekend of good food, good running and good friends. However on a serious note, the training, information and motivation are designed to get you to the finish line in August.  Please note that the schedule may have to be adjusted due to the snowpack, but we’ll try to keep you informed as the run date approaches.

Friday, June 25- Arrive in Leadville and check in at race headquarters, (open from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm) 213 Harrison Ave., (or see us at National Mining Hall of Fame, W. 10th St. entrance at 6:30 am on Saturday.)  Dinner on your own.

Saturday, June 26

- Meet at the National Mining Hall of Fame Conference Center, 100 block of W. 10th St. at 6:30 am.  Breakfast to be provided by race management.  Run plan for the day is May Queen Campground to Twin Lakes - 26 miles.  We’ll transport you by bus from the Conference Center to May Queen.  We will have two well equipped aid stations set up to replenish you during the run.  Upon your arrival in Twin Lakes, we will provide a cookout before we transport you back to Leadville.  There is adequate parking at the Conference Center and you can leave your vehicle all day.

Sunday, June 27

- Today’s route will take us from Twin Lakes over Hope Pass to the ghost town of Winfield, back over Hope Pass and down to Twin Lakes (the infamous double crossing).  Meet at the National Mining Hall of Fame Conference Center at 6:30 am for breakfast, then on the bus by 7:00 am to arrive in Twin Lakes and begin the run by 8:00 am.  We will have an aid station set up at the Winfield turnaround.  During the actual race we allow 7 hours and 15 minutes for this 21 mile segment.  For this run we are allowing 9 hours.  Then, we’ll transport you back to Leadville from Twin Lakes with the last bus leaving by 6:00 pm sharp (but don’t worry, we won’t leave you or lose you).  At 7:00 pm this evening we will be providing a pasta dinner at the Conference Center.  And for your entertainment and enjoyment, an experienced panel comprised of runners, crew members and race management will discuss “What It Takes to Finish the Leadville Trail 100”.

Monday, June 28

- Most of this day is free for you to enjoy some of the many attractions and activities our area has to offer:  Go rafting on the Arkansas; Take a train trip on the Leadville, Colorado and Southern Railroad; Climb Colorado’s highest peak (Mt. Elbert, 14,433 ft.) right in our backyard; Golf at Mt. Massive Golf Course (America’s highest); or enjoy the National Mining Hall of Fame and some of our other museums.  We are planning a crew seminar at race headquarters during the afternoon.  This seminar will be offered by some of the most capable and adept crew chiefs on the planet!  We’ll give you complete details at the Sunday evening pasta dinner.   Our planned running activity (and it’s an optional one) is a night run from Twin Lakes back to tree line (a distance of about 12 miles).  Meet at race headquarters (213 Harrison Ave.) by 7:30 pm and we’ll transport you to Twin Lakes at 8:00 pm.  We plan to start running at 8:45 pm.  Transportation will meet you at treeline and return you to Leadville for some well deserved shut eye.

Hope to see you there!
